Manasota Operation Troop Support (MOTS) was started in 2007 as a grass roots organization at King Middle School by a teacher, Jim Comkomcyz, whose son was serving in the Middle East and was severely wounded. Upon returning from Walter Reed Hospital, "Mr. C" was determined to find what his community could do to help other local troops. He felt like the community could do more than what they were doing.
MOTS sends monthly packages to local deployed troops with ties to Manatee and Sarasota Counties who are serving in the Middle East. They and their families receive help before, during and after deployment by MOTS.
